Bank of Violets
Bank of Violets is the story of two productions of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night: one in September 1918 and the other in March 2020.
Both productions are rehearsed, but neither one is performed. Everyone is changed.
It is a love letter to young people making theater, and a reminder of why we stay in this art form that always breaks our hearts.
With a gorgeous folk rock score by Jacob Fjeldheim, it hovers somewhere between a play and a musical. It’s a playsical.
Cast of 12 to 18 players: 3F, 1M, 1 not female, 7–12 players of any gender. Written for high school, college, and camp companies who love Shakespeare and want a story about why young people make theater.
